Services were held Dec. 31 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Lois Olson, 93, of Boone.
Words of comfort were offered by The Rev Kim Nofel, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson. Honorary bearers were Anthony Onstot, Casey Hagensick, Richard Barber, Neil Schmitz, Shawn Pickens and Tom Schmitz.
Casket bearers were Chad Olson, Craig Olson, Peter Olson, Keith Olson, Jeff Olson and Wade Olson. Interment was at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Lois Olson, age 93 and a long-time resident of Jefferson, passed away December 28, 2021, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Lois was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Rippey, to James Leo Chafa and Alice Mae Ury Chafa. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946 and was the owner/operator of Lois’s Beauty Salon for over 40 years. Lois was an active member and leader of the Order of Eastern Star and the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. In 1947 she married Howard Olson, to whom she was married for 52 years before his death in 1999. Together they owned the Olson Clothing store on the town square.
Lois is survived by four children: James and his wife Barbara of Burr Oak, Sandra Schmitz and her husband Thomas of Bluffton, SC, Jon and his friend Peggy Lynch of Marshalltown, and Tracy and his wife Beverly of Willmar, MN.
Lois was a loving grandmother of 11 who have blessed her with 19 great-grandchildren: Peter Olson (wife Lisa, children Beckham and Phoebe), Laurel Hagensick (husband Casey, children Karlie, Cameron and Allison), Jill Onstot (husband Anthony, children Bowen and Addy), Noelle Pickens (husband Shawn and children Kaitlin, Kelsey and Kassidy), Neil Schmitz (wife Nicole and daughter Elisabeth), Chad Olson (wife Stacey and children Karver and Milena), Craig Olson (wife Molly and children Brandon and Abby), Wade Olson (wife Morgan and son Charlie), Jeff Olson, Jackie Barber (husband Rich and son Hudson), Keith Olson (wife Allie and children Logan and Brooklyn).
